We can’t wait to show you when we are done!
We recently received the unfortunate news of Albany Indoor Adventures closing its doors. As a result, we would like to express our deep interest in purchasing the beloved Jarrah 7.5m submarine that has brought immense joy to over 600 children celebrating their birthdays and countless others who have visited this establishment.
We firmly believe that the submarine holds a special place in the hearts of the community, and it would be a fantastic addition to the Albany Health Campus. Our primary goal is to create a positive and uplifting environment for individuals of all ages, particularly those who visit the hospital. Currently, the campus has a deck with only one solo driver’s wheel, and we strongly believe that a playground featuring the submarine would greatly enhance the experience for children and their families.
Playgrounds play a vital role in promoting social, emotional, and physical well-being. They provide a much-needed distraction and source of entertainment for children who are in the hospital for treatment or visiting their loved ones. Being in a hospital can be a stressful and overwhelming experience, especially for children. Playgrounds offer a space where children can engage in play, have fun, and momentarily forget about their medical conditions or the challenges they may be facing.
Moreover, playgrounds promote physical activity and help children maintain their physical health. Hospitals often have restrictions on physical activity due to medical conditions, but having a safe and well-designed playground allows children to engage in supervised play and exercise. This can contribute to their overall well-being and aid in their recovery process.
Additionally, playgrounds in hospitals have a positive impact on the emotional well-being of children and their families. Play is an essential part of childhood and is crucial for emotional development. It allows children to express themselves, explore their surroundings, and interact with others. Having a playground in a hospital setting provides a sense of normalcy and joy, which can help alleviate anxiety and stress for both children and their families.
Furthermore, playgrounds can also benefit hospital staff and visitors. For visitors, especially those who have to spend extended periods at the hospital, a playground can provide a much-needed respite and a way to engage with their children or siblings in a positive and enjoyable manner.
To bring this dream to life, we require a significant investment, and we are committed to raising the necessary funds to acquire the submarine. We kindly request your support in making this dream a reality. Any financial contribution, no matter the amount, would be greatly appreciated. If we pass our initial goal, we would love to create a sensory garden that would benefit even more patients and staff. The submarine is solid jarrah and would normally retail for $36k, but we have secured it for $18k plus installation (for a limited time). Other costs include fencing, signage, soft fall material, garden beds, and more. I would be happy to discuss these further if requested.
By keeping the submarine within the community, we can continue to spread joy and create lasting memories for countless children and their families during their most challenging times. We firmly believe that this collaboration will have a positive and lasting impact on the Great Southern community as a whole.
Thank you for considering our request. We would be thrilled to discuss this opportunity further and provide any additional information you may require. Please feel free to contact us so together we can make a significant difference in the lives of those who visit Albany Health Campus.
